making things right part 2 ~ a zara story

random note: this happened to be my 100th post at SIN

...Zara sat at her desk, ostensibly doing homework, but too distracted to make much progress.

Her conversation with Jax earlier had not exactly gone as she thought it would.
Well, no, the conversation itself wasn't so surprising, just the fact that it had ended at that.
With no further 'discussion' following, as she had automatically assumed/been resigned to the fact that, there would be.

Not that she was complaining or anything...

Jax was not very happy, obviously, with what Z. had told her.

However, Jax had focused more on the fact that she understood why Zara had needed the option available, that having it could provide some sense of 'security' in and of itself.
It made total sense to her, Jax said, considering what was going on at the time, and that she had disposed of the 'contraband,' when she did, further validated that theory.
Jax told Z. that she was proud of her for never having actually taken the pills then, and especially for making things right now.
Book closed, ancient history.

It was everything Zara needed to hear...
She felt better, a little lighter, not carrying around any more secrets.
So why was she also still feeling that nagging...something...?

Oh c.f.o. Z, she thought to herself, you're just wound-up cuz it's been a long day.
So stop procrastinating, get your work done, and sleep it off...

Meanwhile, downstairs...

Jackie was having a cup of decaf with Taylor and relating the evening's earlier events, as they lounged on the couch.

"Have you spanked her yet?" Tay asked sympathetically, knowing how tough it was on his wife to do so, despite her deciding and knowing when it was necessary.

"No, I'm not going to," Jackie told him.

"Really?" he said, clearly surprised.

"It happened 9 months ago, Tay. All that she's been through in that time...I mean no wonder. And look at how beautifully she came through it. We talked, we're good, I can't see the benefit of making it any bigger deal."

Zara was clearly Jackie's 'territory,' so to speak, and Tay didn't want to put her on the defensive...but something told him she already was within herself.

"So, you think she's really let it all go?"

Jackie looked up, meeting his eyes, silent.

Reaching out to hold her hand, Tay continued, "Look Jackie, clearly you know Zara better than anyone, but I know her enough, how incredibly hard she is on herself, as well as how much she wants to please you...and I think I know you pretty well too..." he winked.
"I'm just wondering is all, if it's really that quick and clean, or...you both just really want it to be? It seems to me, what she did was beyond telling a simple lie..." he trailed off.

After a pensive minute, Jackie muttered, "Damn you," and Tay chuckled quietly.

She let out a sigh and flopped back to settle in Tay's arms.

Tay kissed the top of Jackie's head and asked, "So...what now?"

Sighing again, Jackie said, "I go make things right, do what she needs me too."

...and you'll have to use your imagination for the rest.
yes, i'm stopping there.
no, there won't be another part.

(or i highly doubt there will at the present moment anyway.)

sorry to impose my own (confused) frustration on ya...
