the missing one came home (warning: SAPPY)

When Jackie's children--Hailey, Caroline, and Issac--were each very young, all loved a particular story she would sometimes tell at bedtime.
Jackie would tell them how, even before they had begun growing in mommy's tummy, each of their (three) souls were waiting in heaven; and each had long been destined to become those of mommy and daddy's children.

Although she is no cynic either, Jackie is not one to buy easily into many "new age" concepts, if you will.
However, the story she told is one Jackie knows, with all her heart, to be true.

Since the time Jackie had last told that story to Issac, her youngest, she has come to believe, with equal strength, that there had been an additional fourth soul.
Some kind of awful mistake, or mishap, however, had occurred--and that soul had gotten lost.

How else could one explain the feelings she has had for Zara from nearly the first moment she set sight on that 9-year-old little girl...

Between the births of Caroline and Issac, Jackie had another pregnancy, which ended in miscarriage.
Her due date for the child she had been carrying was October 31, 1990--
The very day one Zara Michaela Santi was born, not ten miles away.

Eleven+ years later, 'Jax' carried Zara out of a house, away from that scene, that had indeed been truly awful.
She had not allowed herself to notice, until then, the empty space she carried in her heart.
That very night, however, Jax realized the hole had been filled.
Her missing soul had finally made its way home.
